Winter

As Spring starts with new life budding, I thought it a good time as any to write about this past Winter season.

You probably have heard me say before how I have appreciation for each season and what it brings. Winter is always something I look forward to after several busy months. For photography, it is a slower time and gives you a chance to catch up on work, maybe brush up on your education and prepare for wedding season to start ! At home, it is a break from garden & yard work and you have a chance to do some inside projects. And a chance to enjoy several cups of tea or hot cocoa !

Because of moving in the Fall, I feel my Winter went quick! I had a ton of painting, unpacking and organizing to do in between photography stuff and construction for my Dad’s portion of the house. I love to paint, but I am ready for that chapter to close for a while 😁 However, I am really looking forward too all the beauty that Spring has. Trees blooming, the world coming to life again. With a new property, it is our first Spring here and I am excited to see this place come to life!

Photography wise, I felt I had a good balance of work. Nothing too crazy, and gave me enough of a much needed break after a crazy busy year! December I was still shooting some sessions for Christmas, and that definitely brought its challenges. Thinking next year’s Christmas sessions might be inside ? Thanks to the very unpredictable weather 😏 January brought 2 engagement sessions, a wedding and a pretty sweet styled shoot I got to be part of ! In February , I saw 2 precious newborns, a maternity and my styled shoot that I had planned! March. It is a busy month for me personally with my Dad moving in , but photo wise I took a step back !

The one of many things I have ‘struggled’ with since being on this photography journey is work/life balance. How much work is too much ? What is my comfort zone for the amount of work I take ? Quality over Quantity. That number looks different for every photographer, so there is no '“ideal” amount. This Spring , I am stepping back just slightly to figure that sweet spot out. At times I have felt that I got so busy in photography, life just passed me by and I wasn’t really getting to enjoy the world around me- which means I am too busy. We were given this beautiful life God has blessed us with to enjoy and treasure the time we have here.

Enjoy a few photos from this past Winter!
